I am home from my hols and as lovely as they have been and as grateful as I am to have the means to travel to see my family, I am also relieved to be chez moi.
Comedy timing. My kids are in the bath chanting arsehole arsehole. I go in. Turns out the smallest has spelt her name backwards using bath letters. ASOR.
Love this! This really speaks to me after a weekend with my friends and our 5 year old boys behaving like complete arseholes!! They get along great, but just make life difficult for the rest of us! 🙈
This--laughing out loud: "It’s like they could smell the shift between them and the extra bandwidth I’d momentarily been gifted and pivoted to grab the attention before I spent it on, oh I don’t know, shaving my calves." Such a funny, real read.
Thank you for writing this. I (9 months pregnant) just had to peel off my eldest son (4) from his brother (2) after eldest struck littlest so hard that other adults in the playground actually gasped. My Mum friend, also with two similar aged boys, gently reassured me it's all totally normal and "how they bond". Still... why do they do this to each other - and us? x
Yup, today my kids didn’t fight which is great but they annoyed me so much I told my husband I don’t like them, knowing it was a safe space to say it out loud in the moment. Of course I do but I needed to say the truth for those few minutes I felt it! Then, of course, I had the “what’s wrong with me” thoughts!
I do like the approach of having my kids settle their own issues and I don’t get involved and play referee. Now that they are 9 and 6 this is much better because they can both communicate. It was much harder when the younger one couldn’t say sentences we understood!

I genuinely will sleep better tonight so thank you ❤️
Strong relate on the “what is wrong with me?” fears (and I’m expecting my second, arrrgh)
