Living with an intransigent partner is both an irritant and an inspiration. But acknowledging your significant other's pitfalls is a non-negotiable for successful long-term partnerships.
Thank you for this - I absolutely relate! Interested to know what your response is when people ask you ‘where’s Hade?’ - when you know that the answer is he just didn’t want to go? I find I can’t bring myself to tell the truth and start making up work trips or illness, which can become a bit dicey!
Honestly, I fudge it. Literally noone wants to hear someone's boyfriend doesn't really care for their company...! Because it is such a well known situation, I can often say, 'Ah! well you know Haden', as a shorthand for he'd prefer to play Zelda instead. I try and keep it as light and non-offensive as possible without outright lying....!
Brilliant post. I relate to Hade! I don't go to a lot of stuff cos my social bandwidth these days and that's without kids! Love the honesty and how we can love despite their flaws xoxo
I love the honesty of your writing. This is so relatable.

The older I get the more I realise how different our tolerance scale for the energy of others really is! X
